Cook Like Mulder
Definitely not literally. All evidence points towards Mulder being a terrible cook. But, Mulder’s entire personality is built on being a not-by-the books kind of guy. He surely would follow a recipe as closely as he follows Skinner’s orders. And, the great news for Mulder is that this kind of confident, follow your gut approach really works for cooking. When cooking, recipes are more like …guidelines, because so much of cooking is incredibly subjective. Everyone has their own food preferences that should influence their own cooking. Love garlic? Add more. Don’t like carrots, that’s fine, throw in a zucchini instead. The cheese is melted, but not burned the way you prefer? Leave it in the oven for a few extra minutes. Don’t fuss too much about actually measuring ingredients; it just takes time, dirties your measuring spoons, and probably makes food that isn’t to your exact tastes. You might have some disasters, but that’s all part of the learning to cook process. And, the great thing about cooking like Mulder is that you won’t have to turn in your results to your A.D.. So if dinner comes out weird, or doesn’t look like the picture, no one is going to know. It’s not like you spent thousands of The Bureau’s taxpayer dollars hunting Bigfoot.
