’90s X-Files Funfetti Dip
This dip is based on Dunkaroos, a popular ’90s snack. This version of the popular funfetti dip is X-Files-ified with black and green sprinkles, instead of the standard rainbow funfetti sprinkles. You can make it extra X-Files-y by serving it with sugar cookies cut into X-Files shapes.
We like to use our own whipped cream for this recipe, as it makes for a less-sweet, slightly richer version of the dip, but you can also use Cool Whip. Tip: if you use homemade whipped cream, you can whip it up in the mixer first, and then add in the remaining ingredients. You can also add less sugar to make the X-Files Funfetti Dip less sweet.
Method
Not all boxed cake mixes are safe to eat raw. If the boxed mix you’re using includes a warning to cook the ingredients before consuming, you can spread the cake mix out on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for about 5 minutes. Allow to cool.
Combine all ingredients except the sprinkles. Beat, using an electric hand mixer or the balloon whisk of a standing mixer until thoroughly combined, about two minutes. Add the sprinkles and beat just until mixed.
