Agents on the Case

Remember when conspiracies used to be fun? A cooking blog dedicated to The X-Files. Come for Mulder & Scully, extraterrestrials and ’90s nostalgia, stay for delicious food.

Join the agents on the case, Reegan & Kayla, as we rewatch The X-Files and come up with a new recipe for each episode. While Mulder and Scully seem to run on sunflower seeds and science alone, we need to eat, so here we are. The point of this blog is not to recreate meals found in The X-Files. Instead, we’re cooking meals inspired by the episodes— focusing on the setting and atmosphere, the themes, any elements that stand out and inspire us to cook.

Our cooking credentials:

This is an incidentally vegetarian food blog because we have a combined 42 years of vegetarianism between us. We also both grew up in Pennsylvania, where vegetarian food is not exactly abundant outside of the metropolitan centers. So, there was no recourse but to teach ourselves to cook and cook well. We’re also trying to teach ourselves to be less dependent on cheese and dairy, so you’ll find a lot of vegan recipes on this blog, including “vegan-friendly” posts that indicate the easy vegan substitutes. We’re home cooks who just like to try new things.

Our X-Files credentials:

We both fondly remember watching the show when it was on television when we were teenagers. Kayla remembers taping and rewatching episodes on VHS, but now that’s is available on streaming, we’ve lost count of our watch-throughs.

Reegan’s favorite X-Files episode is Bad Blood. Kayla’s is Triangle. Cameo appearances by our other current obsessions: The Locked Tomb, Our Flag Means Death, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Doctor Who, and tabletop gaming.
